Background

Tim Nayar received a B.S. degree in Biomedical/Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southern California, where he graduated in 2006. His undergraduate research focused primarily on muskuloskeletal modeling. After graduating, Tim remained at USC to complete his M.S. in Medical Device and Diagnostic Engineering while investigating medical advances in pacemaker design and scar prevention technologies. As of 2008, he continues his Ph.D. studies in Biomedical Engineering and expects to graduate by early 2012.

Current Activities
Tim uses a variety of equipment and procedures to advance the study of the mechanical properties of soft biological materials. The goal is to develop a systematic means of viscoelastically characterizing tissues. This information will allow for the proper modeling of the wide variety of mechanical loading situations during implant-tissue interactions.

Research Interests
Mechanical Characterization, Modeling of Biological Materials, Mechanical Interaction Between Implants and the Surrounding Tissues, Medical Device Design and Development.
